Military References in Quarter Sessions Before 1900

John Culpin – 15 October 1800

John’s family were paid Nineteen Shillings while John Served in the Military. This is recorded in the Sheffield Quarter Session Records for Sheffield and covers his family living in the township of Braithwell & Micklebring, now part of Rotherham, Yorkshire

The Like order upon the overseers of the poor of the Township of Braithwell and Micklebring in the said West Riding for the sum of nineteen shillings for the relieving of the family of John Culpin a substitute serving in the militia of the said West Riding for the said township of Braithwell and Micklebring.
